Our community is inclusive and active
Your Honors College experience is designed to be just that: yours. Gone are the days in high school when most days are planned already. Instead, our community’s immersive and supportive environment provides a solid foundation from which you’ll learn how to utilize and protect your own time as you live, learn, and have fun together!
The Honors LLC provided a great environment for studying and making new friends. It helped me with my studies because the people on my floor had similar work to me. Also, the weekly emails let me know of events on campus that I may not have otherwise known about.
— Mason Honors College Student
Both on- and off- campus Honors College students participate in learning community programs where they begin building long-lasting bonds. Field trips, enrichment workshops, and other opportunities complement interests and ideas introduced in the classroom. Recent experiences include
- dinner with two visiting Middle Eastern studies scholars to discuss U.S.-Iran-Iraq relations
- a film screening and Q&A with an Emmy-award-winning filmmaker
- a visit from a certified health coach for tips regarding healthy on-campus dining
- attending a play at the Kennedy Center with a local professional actor and Honors College professor
Typical learning community timeline
The Honors College invites both our on- and off- campus students to participate in our extra- and co-curricular programming. You don't have to live in the Honors College residence hall to participate in our Learning Community. Any Honors College student can take part in the Learning Community sponsored field trips, volunteer activities, and campus events.
