Students in the Honors College Consults course work as consultants for major industry partners in order to solve complex business problems.

Computer science major Shruti Sekar was this year's Winter Commencement student speaker. These are the remarks she gave at the ceremony.

The College of Engineering and Computing and the Honors College hosted an event called “Doughnuts and Discussions” to discuss excellence in STEM. The value of peer support was emphasized, with mentors guiding students through academic challenges. The event explored effective teaching and academic excellence, with participants sharing experiences and strategies. Faculty shared their perspectives on continuous learning, highlighting moments of deeper understanding through student interactions. The event served as a platform for sharing resources and experiences, equipping attendees with tools to thrive in STEM fields.

Local student Rosy Sultana overcame challenges to succeed in George Mason University's Honors College. She graduates this May with a degree in Computer Science from the College of Engineering and Computing.

Research Interests: Systems Engineering Theory and Engineering Design Decision Making. 

Lily Patterson knew she wanted to make things when she began her studies at George Mason University.

“I just wanted to turn physical things into something that’s really cool and awesome,” she said.

A trailblazer in naval engineering research and engineering education, Leigh McCue combines curiosity, storytelling, and teaching that fosters a diverse environment for women and minorities in STEM.

Research Interests: Theoretical and computational fluid mechanics, turbulence, laser propagation through random media, viscoelastic flows, acoustics, geophysical fluid mechanics, micro-fluidics
