2017, Honors College
As the daughter of a diplomat, Mai Nguyen was looking for stability and community when she decided to attend Mason. After a lifetime of moving every few years, the Honors College provided Mai with a safe space to call home.
“The Honors College changed my living pattern and gave me my first experience of truly being part of a community,” said Mai.
Mai hasn’t wasted a single moment while in the Honors College. She has taken advantage of the support system and research-focused curriculum to further her academic interests.
Mai’s interest in international politics has pushed her to pursue research projects about current events with real world impacts. She has conducted several large research projects, including analyzing climate impacts to Southeast Asia for the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
While at Mason, Mai has also studied abroad in Switzerland and currently interns with the American Red Cross. The Honors College provides students like Mai opportunities to pursue their academic goals, while creating strong bonds with other students and the greater Mason community.
