The Honoring Our Community Fellowship Program is a paid fellowship program for Honors College students who seek to become more involved in their campus community and beyond.

Selected fellows will receive a $3000 stipend for their continued commitment to the program for the whole academic year, which will be paid in installments throughout the year. The stipend is processed as student wage employment.

This program will provide Fellows the opportunity to build community together and receive guidance while they work with existing programs and initiatives at George Mason.

Fellowship Programming

  • Fellows will build community, both with other participants in the fellowship and with the broader George Mason and regional community.
  • Fellows will participate in a required 0-1 credit in-person class in which they will learn from others with a range of experiences and perspectives in order become to be more effective and knowledgeable advocates when participating in community engagement.
  • The Fellowship will support them as they identify and contribute to existing activities across George Mason that enact change - or, it will support them as they work to build something new that does not yet exist.

Eligibility

  • The Honoring Our Community Fellowship program requires a significant commitment to learning from others, a willingness to seek an understanding of the perspectives held by members of the community, and the development of a project that addresses a need in the community.
  • Students who participate must be able to attend a weekly class. Participants will need to regularly attend these class sessions in both the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Honors College students of all majors and levels who plan to be on George Mason's Fairfax Campus for the full academic year are eligible to apply.
