What to Do once STEM AP/IB Exam Scores are Posted

While the instructions below will expedite your registration, you must still have your scores officially sent to Mason.

*If you receive credit for MATH 113 or MATH 123, you may enroll in the next MATH course and/or CS 112 without taking the Math Placement Test

Math Registration

  • MATH 116, the Honors section of Calculus II, is recommended only for students who earned a 5 on the AB portion of the Calculus AP or a 6 or 7 on the IB Math HL exam. Students who are not confident about their calculus abilities and who plan to take higher-level math classes may wish to retake MATH 113 or 114.
  • If enrolling in MATH 114 or 116, you can also enroll in PHYS 160.
  • MATH 108, MATH 113, MATH 114, MATH 116, MATH 213, MATH 215: Email a screen image of your test score (with your name clearly showing), your G-number, and the CRN of the course (and recitation, if applicable) in to which you would like to enroll to Christine Amaya in the Math Department (camaya@gmu.edu)
  • A placement test is required for MATH 108, MATH 113, MATH 123, and MATH 125.  You may receive credit for MATH 113 and MATH 123 if you have qualifying scores in AP Calculus AB/BC or IB Math SL/HL (please see chart above).  Information about the placement test can be found at the Math Placement Test Website.  

Statistics Registration

  • STAT 344: If you receive credit for MATH 114 and want to register for STAT 344, email a screen image of your score (with your name clearly showing), your G-number, and the CRN of the course in to which you would like to enroll to Linda Davis in the Statistics Department (ldavisc@gmu.edu)

Computer Science Registration

  • CS 112: Email the Computer Science Department (csug@gmu.edu) with a screen image of your score (with your name clearly showing), your G-number, and the CRN of the course and recitation in to which you would like to enroll AFTER you have been cleared to register for MATH 113. Include your G-number and explain.
  • CS 211 or 211Honors: Email (csug@gmu.edu) a screen image of your score (with your name clearly showing), your G-number, and an explanation of the course in to which you want to enroll, including its CRN.

Chemistry Registration

  • CHEM 212/214: Email Encarnita Arguelles in the Chemistry Department (earguell@gmu.edu) a screen image of your score (with your name clearly showing), your G-number, and the CRN of the course and lab section in to which you would like to enroll.
  • If you earn credit for CHEM 211/213 but are unsure of your preparation to take CHEM 212/214, you may take CHEM 211 or CHEM 211H without taking CHEM 213 (lab). Please email Ms. Arguelles (earguell@gmu.edu), as described above, for permission to enroll in the lecture only.
