1 – Submit Your Deposit

To confirm your enrollment in the Honors College and George Mason University, you need to submit your enrollment deposit prior to May 1.  You may submit your deposit here. Your deposit confirms your spot in both the Honors College and George Mason University.

If you plan to live on campus, we strongly suggest that you pay both your enrollment and housing deposits at the same time. You cannot enter the online deposit system twice, so if you pay only the enrollment deposit now, you will be unable to pay the housing deposit using this online system at a later date.


2 – Submit Your Housing Application

If you plan to live on campus, the housing application and housing deposit of $300 USD are required by May 1 in order to guarantee on-campus housing. Housing applications are available online though Housing and Residence Life. Housing applications are processed in the order in which they are received, so it is important that you apply as early as possible. Housing deposits and applications received after May 1 will be considered on a space-available basis only.


3 – Apply for Student Financial Aid

If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and plan to apply for financial aid, you and your parents should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit it to the federal processor. FAFSA applications can be started anytime after January 1, and should be completed no later than March 1. FAFSA forms are available at, at the George Mason Office of Student Financial Aid, high schools, or public libraries. George Mason University’s Title IV code for the FAFSA is 003749.

4 – Register for Honors College Orientation

New Student Orientation is required of all new students and will help you take the first step in creating your academic and extracurricular life as a Mason Patriot. This Orientation is suggested for all Honors College students, but you may attend a regular session if necessary. If you are unable to attend the Honors College Orientation select another Orientation and call the Honors College office, 703.993.1110, two weeks before the event to set-up an appointment with an Honors College advisor.

Approximately three to five days after submitting your enrollment deposit, you may register for new student orientation at: Registration for Orientation will open on mid-March. You may contact the Office of Orientation and Family Programs and Services with any questions:

5 – Send your final high school transcript and AP/IB/Dual Credit scores to the Admissions Office

To ensure that you receive all credits and receive appropriate advising at Orientation, please send the above documents to the Admissions Office as soon as they are available.  When possible, be sure to include your G#.

6 – Keep an eye out for information regarding pre-advising and registration in late May

All enrolled Honors College students will receive an email and hard copy letter from the Director of Academic Affairs, Heather Anderson, at the end of May.  This communication will include very important information regarding the Honors College advising process.
